Similar to the pull, the push animation deals with acting on a weight, creating the illusion of friction between the character and the object. To produce this effect I studied and recorded different positions that are acted out while pushing against a flat vertical surface. My first attempt (bottom left) at the push was very rough, the action didn't completely follow through, and key pushing poses weren't well executed. To improve on this I spent more time becoming better equipped with Maya, gaining better knowledge of control over the character.
My second attempt (bottom right) was continuously worked on and improved upon, focusing on strong key poses, supported by anticipated action in the knees and shoulders.

These life drawings were done to capture a variation of positions used while pushing. Analysis has also been applied to the limbs of the figure, marking out were elements change or transition to achieve a push.
